I think the difficult gap to bridge is that of “stated purpose versus actual purpose.” The biggest issue here is that too many of you, despite performative outrage during the summer of George Floyd, still fully trust law enforcement. I am arguing that they are in many ways worse today than they were then, as not only have these digital weapons gotten more advanced and widely adopted, but that summer gave many end users a strong retribution motive to abuse their power and go after activists, dissidents, critics, etc. That retribution campaign is fully alive and well today, but many of you are not aware that it’s transpiring because you yourself are not their target. Yesterday’s truth tellers and activists are today’s “persons of interest,” “suspected kidnappers,” “terrorists,” “transnational criminals,” “known threats,” etc, within these ambiguous systems which enjoy the same lack of oversight and crackdown as the US firearms industry because, well obviously, so many of their proponents are cops, feds, vets, DAs, PIs, etc.
It’s critical that we simply read what they’re advertising and clearly laying out as their capabilities via the below, and then presume what I know to be true, that very few use cases here involve legitimate warranted criminal investigations, and this Anything Goes paradigm is resulting in a lot of injustice and suffering for a lot of people even if it’s not so obvious and overt as, say, the George Floyd or Ahmaud Arbery videos of the 2010’s.

This one is important to keep an eye on in 2025 post-Luigi Macaroni trial. The surveillance industrial complex depends heavily on a steady stream of fear-inducing propaganda, and every 6-12 months a new Fake Trend seems to emerge. 2024 felt very much like the great Missing Child and Sexploitation propaganda blitz, whereas 2025 feels primed to make a solid run at getting us to actually believe corporate executives are helpless lambs in the field and there are “radicalized” nobodys / anybodys lurking out there who must be stalked, spied on, and in general digitally raped in the name of their protection.
